A Journey to Excellence!

My Vision for the Parent Teacher Fellowship Moving Forward

By: Michael R. Saunders

2009-2010 PTF President

My vision moving forward for the PTF is as follows. We have sent out surveys for each parent to fill out. Once we receive them back, we will assemble a team of outstanding people that have a desire in their heart to make Shining Light Academy the very best it can be. We will then hold a meeting to organize the events and fundraising activities for every month of the 2009-2010 school year. We will also determine all the activities that will be a part of the fall festival. Once we have a plan in place we will work together as a team to bring the vision to reality and make the 2009-2010 school year the best year ever. We have many exciting and fun events planned for next school year that I believe you are going to thoroughly enjoy. When you come to an event I don’t want you to feel like you are just coming to give money to the school, but I want you to look forward to these events with great anticipation. I am working to come up with some creative, imaginative, and fun ideas that the whole family will enjoy. View entire document - Click Here

PTF Yard Sale A Success!

The SLA yard sale was quite a success.

The yard sale took place on Saturday, September 12. The feedback from this yard sale was great, considering it was the schools’ first one.

It was a hot and beautiful day and many people from our school also set up tables to do their part.

Mrs. Sandra Gravely reported the net profits were $491.15. It was reported that next year we could use a few more volunteers to help out.

Dina Marie Palmer is the Librarian, P.E., and Health teacher at Shining Light Academy.

This is her first year teaching at SLA. She is originally from Rochester, New York, and she graduated from Holten College and Elim Bible College in New York.

Before teaching at SLA, she taught at First Christian in Kernersville. She is married to Andy Palmer, and has four children, Jennifer, Emily, Mac, and Cal. They also have a dog named Buddy. Mrs. Palmer was saved when she was in 3rd grade when she was in church. Now she attends Triad Baptist Church in Kernersville, NC.

Her favorite Bible passage is Psalm 40 because it has encouragement that God can bring you out of anything. Her favorite thing teaching at SLA is all the kids and that she can get kids laughing and have a good time. Her favorite hobbies are reading and painting. Thanksgiving is her favorite holiday because her family gets together.

Mrs. Palmer’s favorite food is buffalo, and her favorite candy is raspberries. West Virginia is her favorite vacation destination because her aunt has a camp up there. Mrs. Palmer’s proudest moment is when her first daughter was born.

The person who has had the most influence in her life is her Aunt Liz because she is a Godly woman that’s guided her through life, and gives her Godly answers.
